Hello Deviants. How's it going?
Just posting a journal because there isn't much else I'm going to be doing on DA until further notice. I've been doing nothing but traditional drawing lately and aside from the fact that my scanner sucks, I'd have to say I've been enjoying it. I'm trying to relax a bit when it comes to my art, taking everything in stride and remembering that it's all about practice, practice, practice. Not everything is going to be perfect and sometimes I'm going to have to just start over. Nothing to get frustrated about.
I've been mostly sketching and haven't really delved in to any refined work quite yet, but it has helped loosen up my hand and I'm liking the quality of a lot of my recent sketches.
In other news, I've decided to officially take a break from Dirty and come back to the project when I'm ready for it. There are a lot of pieces to the story that I'm still trying to fit together and even though I have what I believe to be a solid beginning, the vision I have for the project won't allow me to start it half-cocked. Let's just say, it's still in the oven.
In the meantime and in between time I'll be shifting my focus to a story I've had floating around in my head for a while now called, Mother of Misfortune. The plot to this is much more straight-forward and I've already started scripting the first chapter.
the plot:
Aziza, a young reclusive mother residing in the village of Red Crest with her infant son, Umi (optional name), is living an ordinary life until she is confronted by a group of men sent by the king. It is then revealed that she is Aziza, the Final Gale; a former member of King Arun's band of mercenary warlords called the Eight Arms of Ruin. After one of King Arun's sons is murdered under the watch of Aziza's replacement, he is banished and she is reluctantly called back in to battle. And then... stuff happens. dun dun dun.
The setting has kind of a Samurai Seven vibe minus all the samurai and giant mechas with the addition of more fantasy elements. I'm still working on the character concepts because at this point I only know what Aziza looks like. Also, I have to learn to draw armor or attain a God-like level of armor shorthand, because there is a lot of armor. Damn it. I just realized... there's A LOT of armor.
Well, that's it. Bye.
Wait. No it isn't. Tell me about your projects. I want to know every excruciating detail.

Hello fellow Deviants...
*crickets*
In case you've been wondering what I've been working on as of late, in between commissions I've been working with a friend to put together a website for my artwork, FREEMECHANISM.COM. Here you'll be able to see my finished personal illustrations and commissions in what I believe to be a better resolution than on Deviant Art. Also, I just like having this space of my own to do with what I want without having to think about algorithms and all the social jazz. I also have a mailing list if anyone would like to join to receive updates about the site and my current projects.
ALSO...
I have a Patreon!!!!

Absence and Instagram
Hello everyone, if you have yet to notice I'm not as active on my Deviant Art as of late. The reason being that I've been placing all of my focus on Instagram and to a lesser extent Tumblr. I can't say whether I'll ever will be a frequent DA user again but I do try to come by to check out new work from those of you that I follow. Social media has just been a lot better for me in growing an audience (faster than all of my years on DA -_-) and reaching people that I probably wouldn't have if I had stuck to Deviant Art alone. Also, every time I come back and see the site it feels like not much has changed in terms of user experience. So, with th
Branching Out
Hey everybody.
Going in to this new year, I'm planning on expanding my art platform in a few ways. I'm going to make a website to begin posting art that I'd like to sell as prints as well as for a portfolio I probably should have started a while back. Haven't decided yet if I'll have the two as separate websites or not. I want to display a range and have something to put on a card that isn't a Deviant Art account that the Average Joe/ Joanna can navigate a little easier without all the extra noise. If there is anyone with any useful advice on art websites, I'd love to hear it.
Also, i want to take my art to various social media outside of D
Money and Me
Hey everybody. Just posting to let you all know that i'm not dead, because that would be a very unfortunate turn of events.
Also, I'm constantly visiting the site looking at all of the amazing artwork you've all been doing. It makes me happy.
Just had to say that. Now, to the point:
As some of you may or may not know, over the past year or so, I've dedicated a lot of time to drawing, thinking about drawing, thinking about writing, and sometimes actually writing :D. While this has led to some of my favorite pieces and greatest revelations in my work and work process, the burden of tireless mind and hand being coupled with working f
